Pooja Bhatt (24 February 1972) is an Indian film actress and also a successful producer and director of Bollywood. She is the daughter of the famous Indian film director, Mahesh Bhatt, and is related to the famous Bhatt family of Bollywood. They also own a film production company called Vishesh Films. Pooja Bhatt was born on 24 February, 1972. Her mother’s name is Kiran Bhatt. She was also known as Loraine Bright. She is a Scottish Armenian. Pooja Bhatt is also the step daughter of Sony Razdan who is an actress herself. Her cousin Vikram Bhatt is a film director and screen writer. Her cousin Emran Hashmi is another popular Bollywood actor.
Pooja Bhatt made her acting debut at the age of 17 in the year 1989 in the film Daddy. The movie was directed by her father, Mahesh Bhatt. She played a strong character of a daughter in this film. She played the role of a soul-searching teenage girl in an estranged relationship with her alcoholic father. The role of the alcoholic father was played by actor Anupam Kher.
Pooja Bhatt’s biggest hit was Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin where she was paired opposite Aamir Khan. This film was a remake of Hollywood classic and Oscar-winning film “It Happened One Night”. She got the best female debut award for this film. Presently she is focused on producing and directing films.
Pooja Bhatt acted in many films which were produced and directed by her father, Mukesh Bhatt. She married her long-time boyfriend and a former VJ of Channel V, Munish Makhija aka Udham Singh on August 24, 2003. He now owns a restaurant cum bar in Goa.

Actor Saif Ali Khan arrested for assault, to get bail

Mumbai: Actor Saif Ali Khan was arrested for assaulting a guest at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai. A case of assault was registered against Khan on the basis of a complaint filed by a man who accused him and his aides of breaking his nose after a scuffle inside the Taj Hotel here.
Khan was said to be accompanied by his girlfriend and actress Kareena Kapoor at the time of the incident. Kareena’s statement will also be recorded. The actor and his friends have been booked under IPC 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
The victim Iqbal Sharma approached the police claiming that he was attacked by Khan and his friends, during which, he was punched by the actor, senior police inspector of Colaba police station Vinod Sawant said. He said the 41-year-old actor is likely to be arrested.
Sharma is a South African national of Indian origin and is the deputy director-general of Trade and Investment in South Africa.
The victim claimed that he was having dinner with his family members at the Wasabi restaurant in the Taj Hotel in Colaba last night, while the actor and his friends were sitting at the next table, police said.
Sharma stated that he had objected to the din created by Saif and his friends. When he pointed it out to them, the actor and his friends got enraged, and following a heated argument, attacked him. Khan allegedly told him to go to a library if he wanted peace and quiet. Sharma said Saif and his two associates allegedly rained blows upon him fracturing his nose.
Khan will next be seen in home production ‘Agent Vinod’ with Kapoor. The film will be release on March 23.
“The section under which he has been booked is bailable. He has to come with a surety and if we find that the surety is a sound surety, we will grant him bail,” ACP Iqbal Shaikh told reporters. Asked about the actor’s whereabouts and if he was traceable, the officer said, “He is not reachable.”
He denied that any of the women accompanying the complainant were misbehaved with during the scuffle. On whether Khan had himself assaulted the complainant, Shaikh said, “This is what the complainant has said. We are in the process of recording the statements of independent witnesses.” (With additional information from PTI) (Source Times of India)
